Drilling Fluids Engineer Mike Nelson Declares as Unity Party Candidate for Colorado 4th

Evans, Colo. -- Drilling Fluids Engineer Mike Nelson is running as the first Unity Party of America candidate for Colorado's 4th Congressional District, against incumbent Betsy Markey.

"I feel that the only way for change to happen is to make it happen," says Nelson.  "With our current parties in place I have watched as the economy has tumbled and politicians have fought over how to spend more taxpayer money.  I am just appalled at the way the government is spending our future generations' money.  I believe that we have to become energy independent, but that we have to do it in an environmentally safe way. I feel that farmers are Colorado's best resource. I pledge to help the people of Colorado as best as I can."

"I'm thrilled to have Mike Nelson, a fellow one-time resident of Odessa, Texas, run as the second Unity Party Congressional candidate here in Colorado," says Bill Hammons, Unity Party of America Chairman.  "We're awaiting confirmation whether he and our Gubernatorial candidate Levi Hancock will appear on the November 2010 ballot as write-in candidates or next to the word 'Unity,' but, in any event, we'll give him all the support we can.  And from a party in 23 states whose website receives thousands of visitors a day, that might end up being quite a lot."

Energy Drilling Consultant Levi Hancock a Unity Party Candidate for Colorado Governor

Parachute, Colo. -- Energy Drilling Consultant Levi Hancock is running as the first Unity Party candidate for Colorado Governor, against incumbent Bill Ritter.

""The Unity Party of America slogan says, 'Not Right, Not Left, But Forward!' and I want to move Colorado forward," says Hancock.  "I'm just an average guy who's been in the oil and gas industry like my father before me, and I've felt the economy and things in the state get hard and I know a lot of people who have felt it too.  I want to let people know that there is someone willing to stand and run for an office that needs to be turned from its current path.  I know that we can protect the beauty of Colorado and the wildlife while also creating and protecting jobs, and creating revenue for the state.  I want to give hope back to the thousands of people who have lost their jobs or who have otherwise been affected by this drastic economic decline."

"Like I was thrilled about Mike Nelson's declaration for the 4th Congressional District as a Unity Party candidate," says Bill Hammons, Unity Party of America Chairman, "I'm thrilled about Levi's declaration as the first Unity Party candidate for Colorado Governor.  He'll be a great spokesman for the party throughout the state, and we as a party will do whatever we can to support him."

Unity Party Convention and Candidates Forum, Boulder, Sat., 9/26

Boulder, Colo. -- The Unity Party of Colorado will be holding its annual convention and candidates forum in Boulder on Saturday, September 26th, at noon, at the Best Western Boulder Inn, 770 28th Street off Baseline.  The media is invited and encouraged to attend, and should RSVP by calling Unity Party Communications Director Michael Darden at 917-868-8780.

"This has been an exciting week for the Unity Party of Colorado, with the declarations of Mike Nelson and Levi Hancock as our first candidates for the 4th Congressional District and Governor respectively," says Bill Hammons, Chairman of the Unity Party of Colorado and the Unity Party of America.  "Now that we're officially recognized by the State of Colorado, by law we have to have annual meetings, and we have some important party business to attend to, namely the criteria under which we will allow citizens newly affiliated with the Unity Party to officially stand for nomination as Unity Party candidates in 2010 and beyond.  But we're going to hold a Unity Party candidates forum as well, so this won't be your typical business meeting."
